A Place for the Community

Fresh groundwater continues to enter Sparks Marina naturally each day, and water quality is regularly monitored. The Nevada Department of Wildlife stocks the Marina with fish, making it a popular fishing destination.

Over the years, the Marina has hosted an extraordinary variety of activities and community traditions, including beach volleyball, Free Fishing Day, boating and sailing, Fourth of July fireworks, community walks, jet boat races, children's triathlons, the UNR Concrete Canoe Team and the long-running Scheels Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.

Generations of Sparks children now know this place not as a gravel pit, but as a true gem in Sparks.

And, in 2022, the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial added another important community destination to the Marina area.
