A Picture Window into Sparks

The name "Sparks Marina" was intentionally chosen to represent something larger than a body of water.

It represented a vision.

Mayor Breslow wanted to transform a former gravel pit into a beautiful public destination surrounded by recreation, homes, businesses and community activity—a “picture window” into the City of Sparks.

Decades later, that vision can be seen every day in people walking around the water, children playing on the beaches, families fishing from the shoreline, neighbors gathering for community events and visitors enjoying one of the city's most distinctive places.

Sparks Marina's history is ultimately a story of transformation: an industrial site restored and reimagined, an extraordinary flood that accelerated its creation, and a community that turned an ambitious idea into a landmark.

From gravel pit to gathering place, Sparks Marina reflects the resilience, imagination, and community spirit of Sparks!
